"to the best use I can in order to grow my wisdom"

"people's hearts and minds"

Despite being so young, the child withstood his craving for meat and wouldn't eat it.
He even wanted his family to eat vegetarian.
See, isn't such a life filled with love the most endearing?
So, we should all switch to a vegetarian diet and harbor a heart of sincere piety.
Otherwise, there'd be even more disasters and calamities.
We saw news reports on the recent wildfires in
Tzu Chi volunteers have been caring for evacuees in the local shelters by providing blankets and hot food.
Everyone, to eliminate natural disasters like this we must first take care of our heart and mind.
We need to put out the flames of greed and craving in our hearts.
If these flames of desire are not extinguished, it'd be very difficult to put out the fires that are ravaging the forestland on Earth.
(So, we must mindfully watch over our mind)

This is the spread of the values of humanity which we hope to see.

社區關懷護健康

今天除了是世界糧食日，對慈濟來說，也是個具有歷史意義的日子。1994年的今天，慈濟大學正式成立，教育理想從醫學院拓展到更多不同的科系，而今慈大畢業生就像種子長出了苗芽。
證嚴上人在今天志工早會的開示提到，幾位已經從慈大畢業、並且進入醫療志業體服務的同學，他們悲心與智慧兼容並蓄，走在一條正確的道路上，逐漸在擴展年輕人對社會的影響力。
慈濟大學公衛系畢業的何姿儀，在慈濟大林醫院啟業後，就來到人文室服務至今，大小活動都可以看到她穿梭其中的身影；同樣也是公衛系畢業的陳鈞博，退伍後也進入大林醫院社區醫療部門，下鄉做衛教宣導。他們都受教於教育志業體，如今願力堅定投入醫療志業。
親切地詢問病患復原狀況，這也是畢業於慈濟大學的外科醫師張群明，服務於大林慈院，遵循著大醫王的腳步，守護生命、守護愛。向上承擔，張群明也向下傳承，創辦人醫社，透過營隊讓醫療相關科系學生，體會醫療人文，用心為病患拔苦予樂。
走過十四年，菩提種子從一而生無量。過去在慈濟人文教育理念下成長，如今茁壯承擔志業，職志合一盡良能，未來他們更期許自己傳承法脈立榜樣，看見人間最美的希望。
