Look how these bodhisattvas lived out a life of goodness to its fullest and when they drew in their very last breath and parted with this world, they continued to give of themselves by donating their bodies for others to make use of them. They donated their bodies for medical education so that medical students and doctors can make use of their bodies and learn from them. By doing so they educated doctors and benefited humanity, leaving a legacy of love that will last forever and ever. See how respectful and pious everyone was standing in the long procession to see the body donors off in the rain. The rain at the time was truly a test--- a test of everyone's sincerity and respect. See how heat and orderly the procession was. We also see how respectful the university chancellor and medical teachers were to the body donors. They did not put on ponchos, nor did my monastic disciples. Despite being drenched by the rain, they were entirely unaffected and moved along steadfastly as they led the group to see the body donors off with a pious heart so that these body donors can rest in peace and those who bade them farewell can have peace of mind. We see how everyone had peace of mind and that's why they were undeterred by the rain. This was the display of their respect & sincerity. The body donors this time (were truly very blessed---) See, doctors and medical personnel from 18 countries who came back to attend. (Tzu Chi's annual TIMA convention) were all present to see the body donors off. See how respectful and sincere everyone was. These are all good affinities and we sincerely give them all our blessings. Among these eight body donors this time, there are commissioners, and honorary board member, and others. We are all very familiar with the two commissioners. One of them was Lian-zhu, who lived in Since she was young, her life had been full of hardships. When she was four years old, her father passed away and when her mother remarried, she only took Lian-zhu's youngest brother with her. That year, Lian-zhu was only seven. She was sold to do 10 years of manual labor in exchange for From age 7 to 17 that was her life. (She had truly endured a lot of hardship) So, her older brother also wished to make it up to her. But, having experienced so much suffering in life Lian-zhu truly wished to renounce the lay life. However, her older brother could not bear to let her. (To not let her suffer again,) her brother wouldn't let her renounce the lay life but wanted her to get married instead. To her, her eldest brother was like a father. So, since her brother's wish was to arrange for her to get married, she agreed under one condition, which was to marry into a family poorer than hers. Since she had to marry, she chose to marry into a poor family and deemed the hardship she endured as a kind of spiritual cultivation. She truly chose a very different life from others'. After she got married, she worked very hard to run an eatery with her husband while also having to look after her mother-in-law who suffered a psychological condition. She gave birth to two sons and a daughter. So, wasn't the life she led just like a cultivation ground to her? In 1993, she began dedicating herself to Tzu Chi. That year, a severe flood devastated Though she had a serious heart condition and might have a heart attack anytime as a Tzu Chi volunteer. She wanted to give of herself to serve others. So, despite the risk of having a heart attack anytime she still participated in raising funds on the street bowing to passersby to solicit donations. That was the year she began dedicating herself to Tzu Chi Four Missions. Last year, she passed away. In the last few days, during our surgical simulation, her body was put into good use by medical students from See how these body donors gave of themselves with love. What they did was truly admirable. I'm truly very grateful and also very touched. Among the eight silent mentors, there were two commissioners, the mother-in-law of a Tzu Cheng member. family members of our staff as well as the younger brother of one of my monastic disciples. (They are truly precious Silent Mentors) (who teach us many valuable things) I can say that we're really the most blessed medical students but we're also the group that should work the hardest because in the road ahead apart from our passion for medicine and our duty towards our patients. We also shoulder the responsibility of fulfilling the silent mentors' last wishes. We're grateful to the selfless giving of their family members. Thank you. Our silent mentors having taught me the true meaning of giving which is the first of the Six Paramitas. From this experience, I'm no longer afraid of death. Many of the doctors who participated in this have never performed any surgical simulation in their countries. The experience has moved them deeply and each of them has expressed their utmost respect many times. This experience has also changed their perspectives of life. With this bow, give our silent mentors my deepest respect. It is truly an act of great giving. I'm very grateful. See how they embraced life and had no fear of death and took everything in their stride so well. Isn't this the state of nirvana? That is to be in a state of great serenity without any worries or fears. Truly, this is very difficult to achieve. In them, we witness the ways of a bodhisattva from when they're alive to their very last. It is truly a very precious lesson. Today is also the day that our medical students start their anatomy class. Among the body donors for the class this time, there are our honorary board members and commissioners who were all very good disciples of mine. One of them is Mr. Hong Zhi-cheng. Bao-cai is also there. All in all, although this world we live in is filled with suffering, and though many still hold superstitious beliefs. still, there is such a group of bodhisattvas, who, through their last deed, proved to us how committed they truly were. 大體老師將無用化大用，獻身醫學教育，讓醫師及醫學生們發揮妙用，大體老師吳李蓮珠師姊生前用心為家庭為社會付出，往生後用愛布施，獻身成為大體老師。每位大體老師無懼生死的付出，令人感動，慈濟人以莊嚴的儀式，為大體老師送靈。上人在開示中，肯定慈濟人至誠的表現，更感恩大體老師遺愛人間。
七歲就做童工、為家庭付出的李蓮珠，53歲加入慈濟基金會要為社會付出；從小到大堅持的奉獻精神，讓她在人生最後的階段，決定遺愛人間，投身大體老師的行列。
風雨中如如不動，慈濟大學師生懷抱虔誠的心念，陪大體老師走完人生的最後一程；眾人將心中滿滿的感恩，化為真誠祝福，祈願大體老師早日乘願再來。
捨身菩薩無畏無懼，將無用化為大用，這份無聲的說法，讓慈濟人堅持走在人間菩薩道上。
