(My disciples attending the Tzu Chi training camp) All have the same faith and believe in (the Buddha, his teachings, and his wisdom) The Buddha said that all living beings have the Buddha-nature. Moreover, more than 2,000 years ago the Buddha also said that the (we are all manifestations of the Buddha) Look at the walking meditation--- (it is a scene of beauty and order) Around 260 staff from our Four Missions are attending this camp. There are also an additional 230 volunteers helping with this camp. So, they're taking very good care of the attendees. The attendees are also very diligent (in learning Tzu Chi's ideals and spirit) We see that the heads of our Four Missions are guiding their staff to have the same heart (as the Buddha's) And we also see that the Buddha's heart has multiplied and transformed. has multiplied and transformed into the loving hearts of our staff. They've worked together and have taken solid steps in serving the world. We are cultivating diligently with the same heart. We share the aspiration to purify this world and turn it into a pureland. The pureland is attainable if it is our vision, if it is our vow and aspiration and we work together to create this pureland. Of course, all this has to start with people's hearts. So, we hope to purify people's hearts, bring harmony to society. (and bring about a disaster-free world) These are what we hope to bring about. Seeing how diligent everyone is, I'm truly grateful. The beauty of the whole group relies on everyone remaining on course. If one person starts deviating by a centimeter & each person after that (deviates a little as well, you end up with) (a very different course) So, we must not deviate in the slightest. If we can remain on course--- that's a result of our heart being genuine & true. That is the heart of goodness. When everyone comes together with such goodness and does things well, with harmony and principles. Isn't that the perfect fulfillment of goodness? In that moment, we have returned to our inner pure nature and truth. That truth of our inner pure nature is the Dharma. That pure and untainted So, if everyone can adjust and return back to the right course and stay on course so that everyone returns to being on course wouldn't we be in line with the ethics of a human being? Everyone must conduct themselves according to ethics and moral principles. We really have to abide by it. We see that when we return to our true nature. We return to a nature of love Everyone is capable of this kind of love. We see the relief distribution in the It is truly very touching. In But Hurricane Ike came and destroyed their homes. So, many of these wealthy people lost everything they possessed. When our volunteers went there to help them, many people were so touched they cried because the government is still in the process of planning how to help the hurricane survivors so it has not yet provided cash assistance to the survivors. When Tzu Chi volunteers went there, they hugged them and gave them aid. Moreover, before giving out the aid, they introduced Tzu Chi to them and read my letter to them. When they were listening to my letter, they were very respectful, and were very touched. Some cried. They used to live a good life and now they have nothing. See how impermanent life is. This hurricane came and completely changed their lives. Seeing our volunteers distribute aid to these people, it should remind us that life is impermanent. So, we must seize and utilize whatever time we have. (to work for the greater good) We also see that in Many local people have been inspired to serve as Tzu Chi volunteers. The group of volunteers wearing the Tzu Chi vest are all people from the local area. They went to an orphanage to distribute aid and provided care to the children there. What they're doing there are the things that Tzu Chi volunteers in They are carrying out Tzu Chi's work and following the path undeviatingly. Meanwhile, in Inspired by Tzu Chi, they are committed to joining and carrying out Tzu Chi's work. They squat down to cut the residents' toenails and wash their feet. These are young businesspeople. In Look at how human nature can be as long as people can bring forth their most genuine and true heart. People of all religions and ethnicities. (are capable of such love) So, we must establish faith. That is the start to developing virtue, cultivating the Way. In Tzu Chi, we must abide by the way of Truth as we carry out the Tzu Chi path. We must understand and pass on the Jing Si philosophy. That's why spiritual training retreats are needed and then we can in turn lead others. The Tzu Chi path--- we must enter into the community to open up the Tzu Chi path for others to walk on. Whether it's saving lives or nurturing people's wisdom-life, these are the work we must promote. All in all, I'm very, very grateful. Seeing people diligently cultivating themselves can see many big trees beginning to bear fruit. I'm waiting for the fruit to become ripe. Each fruit contains numerous seeds and each seed can grow into a tree and produce more fruits. We must make sure these seeds don't become altered. If we take good care of these seeds, I believe they'll grow into a bodhi forest. Isn't this to be one in possessing a pure heart? Isn't this to till the field of blessings united? Isn't this everyone starting to walk the Bodhisattva Path and develop true wisdom? |
